Originally from India, these birds were bred for meat production, though the hens lay relatively decent and are great setters and mothers. This fancy breed of chicken makes a great pet for its quiet and tame nature, tolerance to the cold.Egg Color: BrownEgg Size: LargeAge of Lay: 20-24 weeks (5-6 months)Eggs/week: Approximately 3Eggs/year: 130-150If ordering Dark Brahma Pullets, the maximum amount is 4 birds of this breed. Contact us directly if you want more than 4. Please keep in mind that we are not like the large hatcheries and it is up to the birds when they are ready to start laying. Once they start laying, we will start processing orders. All orders are processed in the order they were received. We need time to incubate and hatch our chicks and time to raise them to Pullets (6 weeks of age).If you have flexibility with your order and you are feeling excited about getting your birds sooner than anticipated, we may be able to substitute your order with other breeds of the same age that have been raised together. This also applies to orders for 5 or more birds of the same breed.*Chicks ordered must be picked up within 6 days of hatching to avoid additional fees associated with caring for the birds, unless other arrangements have been made. *Chick prices listed are for babies age 1-6 days old. Prices go up $2 per week to cover the cost of feed, electricity and caring for the chicks.
